Music of the Plants: Seeds of Earth
A Japanese World Music Duo
Chiyo Kaiga and Kackey form the Japanese Duo “Music of the Plants: Seeds of Earth.” They not only explore the synergy between European and African musical traditions but also engage in spontaneous improvisation, using innovative tools like the “Bamboo” device. Their musical dialogue with nature resonates in their performances, creating a unique musical experience.
Chiyo Kaiga engages the audience with her piano and vocal talents, while Kackey adds the rhythmic beats of the djembe and his vocals. Together, they compose and perform songs inspired by a deep connection to nature, creating a harmony that blends the earthy tones of drums with the notes of the piano.

・・・ Japanese world music Duo Chiya Kaiga and Kackey performed at GCU. Their collaboration at Garden City University is a mesmerizing journey, blending emotion and technique seamlessly. With instruments like the innovative ‘Bamboo’ from Music of the Plants, they craft a unique, nature-inspired musical tapestry.
Seeds of Earth had a music concert for an hour at ST JOSEPH’S INDIAN INSTITUTIONS
#23, Vittal Mallya Road, Bengaluru – 560001 on 10th January 2024.
Our music contains elements of many genres of music, but especially the spirit of Japan and the musicality of Japanese tradition.
We talked about major earthquake hit Japan on 1st January 2014 and paid a minute of silence for the victims with students before singing our original song “ A song for praying”.
Organizer Arun and us also explained and demonstrated Music of the Plants, which is a very important part of our program.
It could be a good opportunity for students to reconfirm that plants are alive.
Thank you Arun Shivag and all people at school for giving us such a great opportunity.
Japan is now in winter. Many people still need help to survive.
I am far away from Japan now and what I can do is limited, but I will do what I can do now.
I donated to the organization, Japan Car Sharing Association that my friend is representing, which was started after the Tohoku earthquake in 2011, and sing a song to pray for the victims.
I will pay a minute of silence for the victims at my music concert with audience in Bangalore, India.
As a musician, I hope to be a bridge between India and Japan.
