Sacred Offering at Dewa Sanzan, Japan
On September 8, 2026, I had the honor of offering a sacred musical performance at Sanjingosaiden Shrine on Mt. Haguro, part of Dewa Sanzan in Yamagata, Japan.
This offering was at the heart of a journey connecting two sacred mountain regions of Japan:
Mt. Fuji and Dewa Sanzan.
Sound carried from Mt. Fuji to Dewa Sanzan.
And what I received at Dewa Sanzan was carried back again toward Mt. Fuji.
A journey connected through sound and prayer.
My sacred offerings are not simply performances for an audience.
I listen to the place.
To nature.
To the people gathered there.
And to something that may exist beyond what we can see or explain.
Then I allow the voice, the djembe, and the sound of that moment to emerge.
The Courage Not to Know
After the offering, I spent time listening and speaking with Sendatsu Hoshino, a guide and practitioner of the mountain tradition.
One idea stayed deeply with me:
The courage to let what we do not understand remain unknown.
We live in a time when answers arrive almost instantly.
But perhaps not everything needs an immediate answer.
There are things we understand only after experiencing them through the body.
There are moments when we do not know why we are moved.
We simply feel something.
Sometimes we cry without knowing why.
I want to continue valuing that space beyond explanation.
Sound, Nature and Prayer
I believe sound can reach somewhere before words.
A place where we do not necessarily need to understand.
A place where we simply feel.
Through voice, rhythm, improvisation and the sounds of nature, I continue exploring what I call:
Earth Resonance Music.
Not to provide answers.
But to create a space where we can listen again.
To nature.
To one another.
And perhaps to something within ourselves that we had forgotten.
