Full Biography

Kackey@dabigtree (born June 10, 1978, in Japan) is an Osaka-based Earth Resonance Artist whose artistic journey began over thirty years ago with an unlikely origin story: a childhood stutter that made ordinary speech difficult, but left the voice free when it sang.

That discovery — that singing unlocked a channel that speaking could not — shaped everything that followed. Over three decades, Kackey has developed a performance practice rooted in improvisation, listening, and the resonant relationship between human beings and the natural world. His tools are voice, West African djembe, plant-generated music, and singing bowls. His stage is wherever life is happening: from Shinto shrines and mountain caves to underground bars, museums, and international expos.

Since 2018, Kackey has been an Official Artist of Music of the Plants, an Italy-based organization that uses proprietary technology to capture the bioelectrical signals of plants and translate them into musical tones in real time. He performs regularly with the Bamboo device — connecting instruments to trees, mosses, and other living plants — and co-leads the plant music unit Seeds of Earth alongside fellow artist Chiyochan.

His international performances have taken him to Russia, India, Nepal, Thailand, Malaysia, and across Japan. In 2024, he received the Audience Award at the Moscow International A Cappella Festival — a recognition chosen entirely by the listening public. In 2025, he was selected as a featured performance artist at the Saudi Arabia Pavilion during Expo 2025 Osaka, Kansai, Japan, where he shared his Earth Resonance sound with a global audience over a multi-week residency.

In Japan, Kackey has performed alongside Living National Treasure kyogen performer Shonosuke Okura, collaborated with prosthetic leg dancer Koichi Omae, and presented sacred dedicatory performances (奉納演奏, hōnō ensō) at Sumiyoshi Taisha Grand Shrine and other revered sites. His ongoing project Tribe Awakening brings together voice, djembe, dance, live painting, and plant music in immersive participatory events across Japan.

At the heart of Kackey’s work is a simple conviction: sound is not entertainment — it is a living medium through which human beings can remember their connection to the earth. He describes his mission as “inspiring everything in this world through sound.”
