Listening to the Voice of Plants, Remembering Our Connection
Plants are alive. And they are listening.
Through the unique tool called Music of the Plants, we can hear the sounds that plants create—subtle electrical impulses transformed into melody.
In each performance, I sing and play the djembe while engaging in a musical dialogue with plants.
This experience reminds us that we are not separate from nature.
We are part of this Earth.
And through the voice of plants, we can feel the invisible threads that connect all living things.
It is not just music. It is a reawakening.
A Tool for Connection, Not Ownership
While I use the Bamboo device developed by Solera in Damanhur, Northern Italy—part of the pioneering Music of the Plants project—there are also other remarkable tools, such as PlantWave.
Each of these technologies offers a unique way to connect with the sounds of nature.
But this connection goes beyond any single device or musician.
Plant music is not my exclusive art.
It is a shared experience—one that anyone can access, enjoy, and co-create.
Some people can speak with plants directly.
Some feel their presence in silence.
In ancient times, perhaps all of us once had this innate ability.
These devices—turning plants’ electrical impulses into music—are simply one accessible bridge.
A modern-day reminder that we are always connected.
The real music happens when we begin to listen.
How Does It Work?
Plants constantly emit electrical signals as part of their natural biological processes.
Devices like Bamboo and PlantWave measure these subtle variations between the roots and leaves.
These electrical impulses are converted into MIDI signals, which are then transformed into musical notes in real time.
The result is a live melody created by the plant—often shifting based on light, touch, proximity, and emotional energy in the space.
Each performance is a co-creation.
It is not pre-recorded. The plant is responding to its environment, and in many cases, to me as a musician.
This is not artificial intelligence.
It is natural intelligence—translated into sound.
Kackey@dabigtree × Music of the Plants
As a djembe vocalist, I engage in live improvisation with the music generated by plants.
Sometimes the rhythm of my drum encourages the plant to respond.
Other times, I follow the lead of the plant’s melody.
We listen to each other.
We play together.
This harmony creates a unique performance where nature is not a backdrop, but a living collaborator.
It’s a fusion of ancient percussion, voice, and living vibration.
From temples and sacred forests in Japan to concerts abroad, I continue to explore how we can bridge human and plant consciousness through music.
This is not just a performance. It’s a prayer, a dialogue, a celebration of life.
Performance Highlights
Over the years, I’ve shared stages with ancient trees, sacred mountains, and musicians from around the world.
Here are a few highlights of my journey with Music of the Plants:
Each concert is unique—because the plants decide the flow.
The audience is not only watching, but entering a shared vibration with nature itself.

Return to the Roots. Listen. Remember.
In this fast-moving world, it is easy to forget that we are part of something much greater.
The earth breathes. The plants sing. We are never alone.
Through sound, we can return to that ancient memory.
We can reawaken our senses.
We can remember who we truly are.
Thank you for joining me on this journey.
Let us keep listening—to the earth, to the plants, and to each other.
