お忙しい中、事前のご連絡もない中で絶妙なタイミングでお会いでき、さらには現在行われている 40年に一度の屋根の補修工事の非公開現場を、宮司ご自身のご案内で拝見させていただくという貴重な体験まで。
環境を考えお屋根は銅板をやめて檜皮葺きへ。
長い年月を経て受け継がれてゆく伝統と文化。
それは単なる技術の継承にとどまらず、精神のバトンそのもの。
職人の皆さんがまだお若いのが実に頼もしいところ。
神社という場が、今を生きる私たちの魂に語りかけてくるようでした。

🌿 May 27, 2025 – At Izanagi Shrine, Awaji Island
We had the honor of meeting again with Chief Priest Honna at Izanagi Shrine, this time together with the core team of the upcoming “Cosmic Art Carnival on September 23 at Saion, Awaji Island.”
By a stroke of perfect timing, we were able to speak with him despite not having an appointment—and what’s more, he personally guided us through the rare, non-public site of the once-in-40-years roof restoration work.
The tradition and culture passed down through generations…
It’s more than the transmission of techniques.
It is the handing over of a spiritual baton.
We felt the sacred presence of this shrine resonating deeply with our souls.
Heartfelt thanks to Chief Priest Honna and all those at Izanagi Shrine.
Such a beautiful and noble expression of Japan’s living heritage.
