I encountered this sound installation, “Don’t Let I encountered this sound installation, “Don’t Let the Voices Fall Silent” by Soh Souen, at Kyoto Art Center, just after attending a Kirana raga vocal lesson in Kyoto. This installation invites participants to use voices without language—vowels, humming, and sustained tones—to make the air tremble with hope for the world as we wish it to be. I sat in this space and offered my voice for ten minutes, listening deeply to the air, the overlapping voices, and the resonance of the space. This is not a performance, but a moment of coexistence with the installation—an offering of Earth Voice within a field of human wishes and vibrations. With deep gratitude and respect to Soh Souen and Kyoto Art Center for creating and holding this sacred sonic space. Emmon-Hajime no Gi — Kyoto, Feb 6, 2026 On Februa Emmon-Hajime no Gi — Kyoto, Feb 6, 2026 On February 6, 2026, in Kyoto, I was honored to serve as the model for the Ōkimi (Great King) court attire at the “Emmon-Hajime no Gi” — the annual Kimono-Starting Ceremony of a classical lineage of Emmon-dō. As layers of silk were carefully placed upon my body, my center settled into my tanden, the air softened, and time briefly folded — connecting me, if only subtly, with the world of classical Japan. Deep gratitude to the lineage, practitioners, and artisans who have carried this tradition through generations. Their dedication allowed me to touch a living stream of Japan’s cultural memory. My body is my instrument. This experience will resonate through my music and my voice.
